Darth Sion was born as Jacen Revan in the lower levels of Coruscant. He was an exceptional mechanic and was very strong in the Force. Largely because of his poorer upbringing, the Jedi did not sense his abilities. He was a happy teenager, until the day when his mother was assaulted and killed by a mysterious attacker. He swore vengeance on the attacker and vowed to track him down and kill him. During his early adult years, there were an alarming number of mysterious murders in CoCo Town. Analysis showed that all of the murders had not been committed with a blaster, but with objects so large and heavy that no humanoid could possibly use them as a weapon. It was these murders that showed the Sith the true potential of Jacen Revan.

They tracked him down, and then they gave him a deal made in hell: the Sith would track down and murder his mother's killer, and he would join the ranks of the Sith. Jacen accepted it. Nobody noticed the shuttle taking off for Sullust, where Jacen Revan, now Darth Sion, would be trained in the ways of the Sith.

Darth Sion was trained in the ways of the Sith. He sparred with his lightsaber daily, and he memorized the Sith Code. The Sith Academy on Sullust was brutal, but Darth Sion was more brutal, a fact that would be known in his later years.

He was a master of slaughtering, able to wipe out an entire class in a few minutes. He also was persistent, a fact that would be recalled by those who injured him seconds before they died.

[edit] Injury and Recuperation

When Darth Sion was 34 years old the headmaster and staff of the Sith Academy decided to get rid of him. To reach this end they sent Darth Kreia, a masterful Sith Assassin, to kill him while he was sparring with his tutor, Darth Wyyrlok, to murder him. Kreia failed. Her blaster shot was deflected by a brief twirl of Darth Sion's lightsaber.

Kreia decided to go in on her own. With her one shot at Darth Sion having been deflected, she jumped over a lava flow with the Force and tried to stab Darth Sion with her lightsaber from behind. Darth Sion somehow predicted this and dodged her strike, just as the volcano they were battling on the slopes on burst into new life. The roar of its eruption distracted Sion, who was burnt by the lava, but still fought on. Kreia had miscalculated. Darth Sion's rage, amplified by his wounds and his strength in the Force, formed a whirlwind of destruction that threw Darth Wyyrlok and Darth Kreia into a river of lava. It also knocked down most of the mountainside on the other side of the volcano. He had passed the Sith Academy's test. The staff found him and sent a medical capsule.

He endured intensive surgery, including the placement of a life-supporting suit on his burnt skin. He did not take the news that if his helmet and breathing mask were ever taken off, he would die, very well. He swore to take revenge on the Sith Academy as he slaughtered the headmaster and the staff. He slaughtered everyone in the complex, then went into the network of tunnels under the academy to wipe out any survivors. He found none.
