Darkness Returning was the first single from SlipKnoT's second album, Mortis Approaching.
The song, like all of SlipKnoT's, had a meaning behind it and dealt with the continual returns of darkness in its many shapes and forms. Following the Sith Crusade, many believed that this song dealt specifically with the return of Jasca Ducato because of the line "…he returns from his journey, and hero turned conqueror…".
