Dantooine Virus

The Star Wars wiki of fan invention.

The Dantooine Virus was responsible for turning Dantooine into a sterile, lifeless planet in 28 ABY. It also erased all life on several planets in the Chery system as well as the Doldur Asteroid Belt.

Instead of attacking midichlorians, as it was designed to, the Dantooine virus could use any mitochondria to replicate inside. It preferred midichlorians and did replicate in them first, so the usual effect for one who had fallen ill was to lose all Force ability, and then suffer a painful death as one weakened and one's organs gave out. The virus escaped from the laboratory in which it was created, and this may have been partially responsible for the defeat of the Stellar Imperium in 29 ABY. The Stellar Imperial forces had been partly engaged in quarantining affected planets to control the damage done.

One notable death due to the Dantooine virus was Alema Rar.

The Dantooine virus was the precursor to the more successful and less deadly Cyalax Virus.
