Damien Nightblade was the Grandmaster of the monastic Jedi Order during the Great Territorial War, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Third Sith Empire. Nightblade was a friend of Ussej Padric Bac, who was then a Jedi Knight and eventual Shaman of the Whills. Before becoming Jedi Grandmaster, Nightblade participated in the first conflicts of the Great Territorial War along with Bac.
[edit] Biography
Following the inauguration of Stavan Jetzt as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, Jetzt called a delegation of Jedi to his office, including Jedi Knights Damien Nightblade and Ussej Padric Bac. During the meeting, Jetzt expressed the belief that the Sith had reemerged following their disappearance in the wake of the Jedi Civil War. The Jedi were skeptical of the claims, but they decided to send Nightblade and Bac to investigate the situation.[1]
During the investigation, Nightblade and Bac found themselves in the middle of a war between the planets Uvena Prime and Uvena III. At the war’s end, the two Jedi followed a trail of weapons to Korriban, the Sith homeworld, where they discovered that the Sith had orchestrated the Uvena conflict in order to gain the weapons for themselves. Nightblade and Bac barely made it off of Korriban alive, but they were able to return to Coruscant, the capital of the Republic, and inform Jetzt of what happened. Shortly thereafter, Jetzt declared war on the Sith, beginning the Great Territorial War.[1]
Sometime during the war, Nightblade ascended to the rank of Jedi Grandmaster, becoming the leader of the Jedi Order. Thousands of years later, during the Invasion of Utapau between the Trade Federation shipping cartel and the planet Utapau, Nightblade was fondly remembered by Grandmaster Yoda.[2]
