Real-world article

College Kids Productions was a film production company founded by Seth Hoover, or better known as Tesh Vohore. They were responsible for small animation movies, or short live-actions films. They produced SKpade's music video, I'm Mace Windu, but their vision was bigger. They were hoping to release a full length mini-movie. They were able to accomplish this dream in 2006 when they were assigned to a major project. The project was titled Last of the Mohicans Scene 324.6 c and d and was derived from the book, The Last of the Mohicans by James Fennimore Cooper.

It was because of that, the company was able to get a name for them. They partnered up with The League of Extraordinary Jedi, a small named company trying to achieve the same goals, and started production on The Fanon Menace, a spoof of the Star Wars Galaxy. During their time on The Fanon Menace, College Kids Productions started working on a smaller project titled, A Day in the Life of a Stormtrooper. From there, the company branched out and continued to work with The League of Extraordinary Jedi on further projects dealing with comical movies of Star Wars, but was always known for what they did on The Fanon Menace.

The College Kids Logo

Developing the logo wasn't hard, just creatively draining. The founder originally didn't plan on creating a logo, instead keep it a spinning newspaper at the beginning that would expand into larger black screen. But as the company started to tackle there first major project, the founder decided to put a "promotional" picture at the end of the movie. So he and a friend set out to think up an idea. They brainstormed some images and only one stood out.

The logo used for the College Kids Productions portrayed a LEGO figure, as they were their primary actors, director holding a camera facing the right. Close behind the director was a camera man with a traveling backpack holding a knife in his right hand above the directors head. This was to symbolize nothing but the randomness that in the movies College Kids Productions filmed. It was later adjusted to fit the surrounding of The Fanon Menace, as the original picture was lost on the founders computer.

Projects[]

I'm Mace Windu Music Video[]

College Kids Productions released their first project in May, 2007. It was titled I'm Mace Windu music video and was a music video of the parody I'm Mace Windu. The song was recorded and created by SKpade. The tune was from the Relient K song, I'm Lion-O. They agreed to do the project hoping to start a name for themselves. But in post-production pulled their name and logo from the project, but continued to produce it. The video showed the lead singer and bass guitarist, Joshua McGraw as a Sith, and the lead electric guitarist, Seth Hoover (also the founder of College Kids Productions) as Mace Windu. During the song, the two fought it out as they sang. The video ended with "Mace Windu" slicing down the Sith warrior.

Last of the Mohicans Scene 324.6 c and d[]

This was their first major project, and for it they turned to an independent studio to film the video. The movie carries the same name as the motion picture released to the big screen, except this one was based directly on the book, with a couple comical scenes thrown in. The movie is only 15 minutes long and depicts only two scenes from the book.

College Kids Productions agreed to produce it at the request of the independent studio and Seth's English teacher. It was partly filmed with a "stop-go" animation while the rest was realtime filming. As a result of the realtime, there were many bloopers to coincide with the credits. It was here that College Kids Productions developed their logo.

Assassin Movie[]

This project was delayed due to lack of interest and other, more prominent projects arose.

The Fanon Menace[]

This project was College Kids proudest achievement. It was the first project released world-wide. It started off as a small home fan-film project that they started with The League of Extraordinary Jedi, but when they discovered that The Fanon Menace was too big, they began to split it up into smaller clips, which gave the founder of College Kids an idea. They decided to transform the fan-film movie into a small TV series, which proved to be more successful.

They released the first episode on August 14, 2007, on YouTube. They continued releasing movies every week on Tuesday for six years. The only time they fell behind schedule was the first week of October, when both creators returned from a conference in Budapest, Hungary. There was little time to work on the project along with major technical difficulties.

Technology. Never works when you need to most.
—Joshua McGraw, Founder of LEJ

Other than that one day, they managed to keep up to their schedule of one episode every week. Because of the imagination of the two, they were able to create a series that gave them the name they needed to make it big.

The Fanon Menace: A Day in the Life of a Stormtrooper[]

A Day in the Life of a Stormtrooper was a small project going on while the two companies, College Kids and League of Extraordinary Jedi, were working on The Fanon Menace. They decided to tell the tale of TK-421 and Tk-422. They took an approach almost as a "behind the scenes" of A New Hope told through the events of the two Stormtroopers and their companions. The humorous journey took place aboard the Death Star as the Falcon had landed and the rescue attempt on Princess Leia. Comic relief was delivered through Vader's voice and the fact that removing your helmet was more severe then plotting a resistance against a tyrannical government by stealing the plans to the ultimate superweapon and giving them to the Rebellion.

The Fanon Menace: 25[]

25 was a Star Wars take on the real-world hit TV show, 24. It was centered around the character Jack Buaer and his job as a Corsec agent against clan terrorism. The enter show was filmed on Corellia, as Jack raced around Coronet City solving the mysteries that arose.

We should make a spoof of 24 called...25. You know, since Corellia has 25 hours in the day...
—Seth Hoover, Founder of CK

25 covered six days in Jack's life, as there had been six seasons of 24 released at the starting date of production. The two companies decided to play, once again, with the "Fourth Wall" allowing the characters to be outside the filming set. With this, many of Jack's adventures turned comical.

Behind the scenes[]

College Kids Productions was named after the Relient K song, College Kids. The founder of the company, Seth Hoover, started it as just a small group for he and his friends to use on their home made movies, but eventually he took the idea and applied it to every film he directed, as his friends took on their own production company.

College Kids Productions originally only did music videos of parodies the founder and his friends created, but also directed small videos on the side, though none were ever completed or published.
