Chronicles of the Great War: Aftermath is a fan fiction novel written by Brandon Rhea. The novel has been in production since Spring 2008, and it was first released as a short story in April 2008. The short story was retracted shortly thereafter and it was decided to release the completed story as a short novel. The novel has been in pre-production since the retraction of the short story, with the author stating his desire to finish his novel Star Wars: Episode I - The Chosen One before beginning work on Aftermath. However, Rhea has begun to write the novel in script format, which he will use as a guide when writing the novel itself.

The novel is set in the canonical Old Republic era timeline, though because it is non-canon it is instead part of the Alternative Star Wars Saga. Set one week after the end of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords, the novel focuses on the immediate aftermath of Darth Traya's assault on the Jedi Council in the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine, which was survived only by Jedi Master Josham Kavar. The novel also focuses on Stavan Jetzt returning from being a prisoner of war, as well as the early years of the Rendar family and the beginning of an internal struggle within the Sith Empire.

As the first novel of the Chronicles of the Great War series, Rhea has planned an undetermined number of sequels for the novel, beginning with Chronicles of the Great War: The Chancellor's Bidding. The series will tell the story of Ussej Padric Bac and other members of the Jedi Order as they embark on a quest to locate six ancient relics that point the way to a large sum of unknown knowledge regarding the history of the galaxy. Rhea intends to write these novels throughout 2009.

[edit] Preface

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, an epic struggle took place between the noble knights of an Old Republic and the evil Sith Lords who swore to destroy them. When the knights were on the brink of extinction, one Sith witch attempted to bring about their final execution; three Jedi Masters appeared slain by the forces of evil, though one survived. What was once a noble Master of the Jedi Order became a broken shell of a man, devoid of his divine gifts and his memory, forcing him to forever see through the eyes of one he had helped to so foolishly exile only years before.

When one journey ends, another begins. In the aftermath of near-annihilation, this relic of the past will help to continue the tales of the Knights of the Old Republic and guide a lost era forward into a war the galaxy will long regret forgetting.

This is the aftermath of fall of the greatest of Sith Lords. These are the Chronicles of the Great War.

[edit] Development

Chronicles of the Great War: Aftermath initially began as a ten-page short story that would introduce certain elements of the Chronicles of the Great War series. However, after largely negative reaction to it’s release, author Brandon Rhea cancelled that short story and combined it with other short stories that were to follow, as well as expanding what was to have taken place, making it a larger short novel-sized story.

As of July 16, 2008, Rhea has been working on a film script for the novel, though he does not intend to use it as such. Rhea has frequently written scenes in script-format beforehand, as he feels that having the dialogue and the basic actions of the character written out in said format helps when writing the actual narrative. As of the aforementioned date, Rhea has written ten pages worth of screenplay, which likely will result in twenty pages worth of narrative. However, the ten pages are only a beginning, and it will likely end at being roughly forty screenplay pages in length.
