Cercit, formerly Colonial Station Cer'ci, was a cold planet in the Unknown Regions of the the galaxy. It was located in the Cercit system and on the fringes of Chiss Space. The planet was among the most outward colonies of the Chiss Ascendancy and acted as military outpost for the Dec family. It lay on the Chasdemonus Route. Cercit was also the site of the Cercit Auxiliary Naval Academy.

The later Chiss admiral Dec'ao'nuruodo hailed from this planet.

Early history[]

Chiss Ascendancy

Cercit was a colony of the Chiss Ascendancy

One of the last to be colonized by the Chiss Ascendancy, the uninhabited planet was added to the Chiss archipelago – colonized then as Colonial Station Cer'ci – no earlier than 73 BBY, its location and distance from known hyperlanes adding to the elusiveness and difficulty of the planet. Despite being uninhabited, the presence of a previous sentient life was confirmed with the discovery of the existence of a massive temple. The temple was of foreign design, none the Chiss had previously encountered, which cemented the planet's fleeting status.

Colony of the Ascendancy[]

The Nuruodo family held special interest in the planet, believing it to be a site of interest due to its remoteness. They garnered influence on the planet and undertook a major but highly controversial project: to transform the colossal structure into a military site. Archaeologist and preservationist factions in addition to several political figures opposed the project, despite the temple having been largely excavated. Lending an ear to the opposition, the temple was not destroyed and was turned into a naval academy, preserving the ancient structure while offering knowledge. Despite its remote location, the Cercit Naval Academy attracted many young Chiss aspiring to join the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet.

Towards the beginning of the Clone Wars, many decades later, a rift within the Nuruodo family resulted in a great loss of Nuruodo influence which was cemented by the establishment of the Dec family on Cercit. Cercit subsequently became both; the headquarters of the Dec family and their most prestigious site: the naval academy stood testament to this. To further separate Cercit from the Nuruodo family, the Dec family ushered in a name change, dropping the first two segments from its name and retitling the planet to Cercit.
