Braynar Kortis

Braynar Kortis was a Padawan during the Jedi Civil War. He is notable for his help in the Battle of the Star Forge, as well as for his exploits with the Jedi Exile Jade Travis.

Training under Jedi Master Mya Lo, Braynar specialized as a Jedi Guardian. Along with Mya, he volunteered for the Telos System Liberation army, and helped take back the planet. However, during the final battle he lost his Master to a squadron of Sith.

A de-facto Jedi Knight, Braynar escorted Carth Onasi and Canderous Ordo to the planet Korriban, where they reunited with renegade Jedi and ex-Dark Lord of the Sith Nik Starfall. Braynar joined Nik in the Battle of the Star Forge, leading the Jedi strike team along with Master Kavar.

Grieving over the loss of Mya, and outraged by the Council's decision regarding the Star Forge, Braynar went into exile, giving up his powers and forsaking the Jedi name. Five years after the Jedi Civil War ended, Braynar sensed a growing threat approaching from the Outer Rim, even with his connection to the Force so dim. He decided to follow it, venturing into Hutt Space and eventually winding up on the Smuggler's Moon of Nar Shaddaa. There he ran into the Jedi Exile Jade Travis, and her companion Atton Rand, Mya's killer.

While tempted to avenge Mya's death, he soon learned that before she died his Master had redeemed Atton, awaking the Force within him. Along with his deepest regrets, Atton gave Braynar Mya's old lightsaber, and the two men became students of the Exile.

Braynar told Jade of the threat he senses, lurking out in the darkness. He did not inform her, however, that he believed she was that threat. During the Battle of Onderon Braynar stunned Jade with the Force, explaining his fears, and attempted to sever her connection to the Force. However, he found this impossible due to the stron bond that they shared, and soon came to realize that Jade was not a threat to the galaxy, but its only hope in defeating the Sith.

Along with Atton, Mira, Brianna, and Visas, Braynar confronted Kreia in the Trayus Core of Malachor V. He was struck down by Kreia and imprisoned by Sion, later rescued by Jade. As the Jedi Exile flew into the Unknown in search of the "True Sith", Braynar stayed behind and helped rebuild the Jedi Order.
