The Benian sector was a sector comprising some 300 systems in the Mid Rim, bordering the Kyros sector. Its capital was Benia.
History[]
The Benian sector was mostly unremarkable during the time of the Galactic Republic. In 1,791 BBY, it was annexed into the rapidly expanding Greater Kyrian Empire. It enjoyed a privileged status within the Empire, but suffered heavily from Sith occupation during the New Sith Wars. After the war, it declared its independence, which was recognised by all major Galactic Governments.
As a member of the Republic, the Benian sector remained with the Loyalists during the Clone Wars, which resulted in bitter fighting with the Separatist Kyros sector. It gained no reward for its loyalty, however, as it was put under Imperial occupation as harsh as any Separatist world immediately after the war.
Shortly after the Battle of Endor, the Benian sector joined with the Colonan sector to form the Benian Coalition under former Imperial officer turned rogue dictator Piter Ley, who formed a tentative alliance with his arch-rival, Lord Admiral Imperial Evir Daal of the Kyros sector. The Benian sector suffered heavily during the war, but was occupied by the Empire, not the New Republic, and thus escaped the worst tragedies of the war.
