The Battle of the Jedi Temple was the final battle in the Clone Wars and saw the defeat of Darth Sidious' apprentices Dooku also known as Darth Tyrannus and Renust Nju who was also known as Darth Typhon. The battle also saw the deaths of many Jedi, including Kuan Yin Nevu and Mace Windu

Some unspecified time after the death of Darth Maxah during the Naboo crisis in 32 BBY and before the onset of the Secession Crisis ten years later, Renust Nju a Jedi Master and senior member of the Jedi Council turned to the dark side of the the Force and became Darth Typhon, apprentice to the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious. Count Dooku, or Darth Tyrannus, presumably knew of Nju's defection and Sidious' breaking of the Rule of Two.

A direct consequence of this was Nju was able to use his position on the Council to act for his Sith master, prolonging the duration of the Clone Wars to achieve Sidious' plans.

At the end of the war, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was kidnapped by the leader of the droid army, General Grievous and held captive on the Invisible Hand. The Battle of Coruscant had begun, while Republic forces were engaged, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Naberrie flew inside the Invisible Hand to rescue the captive Chancellor. In the subsequent fight with Dooku, Kenobi and Palpatine were knocked out and Dooku was taken prisoner by Skywalker, convinced by Naberrie that Dooky would be more valuable alive.

Dooku was then taken into custody in the Jedi Temple and questioned by Nju, both deliberately prolonged the interrogatation until Sidious gave the signal to act.
