The Azure Star was the personal starship of the mercenary group known as The Flyboys during the Cruentusian War. Following several successful missions, the Flyboys had been investing in funds to buy their own ship. After negiotiating with underworld arms dealers, they managed to obtain discounts on a Strat-class cruiser. After purchasing the ship, Flyboys engineer Butch Horsin managed to use his contacts among engineering firms to swindle technician teams into upgrading some systems either for free or for a low price. Nevetheless, the Flyboys decided to sell some components they considered unnecessary, with team leader Prete Maverik feeling that the ship would be used as a simple carrier rather than a combat vessel. To this end, modifications they installed mainly consisted of facilities to repair and maintain the team's fighters, as well as more refined living quarters.
