Augu Pentag was a male Basca officer of the Royal Navy of the Golden Empire. He served the Royal Navy for most of his adult life, serving in the Conquest of the Chiss Ascendancy, the Vagaari War, the Ssi-ruuvi Incursion, and the Nightmare War. As a young officer he received both the Medal of Courage and the Sacrifice Medal when, after his gunnery unit aboard a picket ship was damaged by enemy fire and he himself received shrapnel wounds to the shoulder, he continued to drag turbolaser power packs through a dangerous, sparking area to the remaining turbolaser battery.
By 150 ABY, Pentag had also been awarded the Royal Navy Superior Service Medal after successfully commanding a Firebird-class war cruiser. He was offered the captaincy of a Samnis-class heavy cruiser, but declined in order to instead take command of the Valkyrie, another Firebird which was the personal command ship of Breek Zagrev. Pentag was a respected colleague of Rebeyr Captain Salin Tesshir, the Valkyrie's outgoing commander, who recommended Pentag for the post. Pentag officially assumed command of the Valkyrie in mid-150 ABY.
