Askar Invado was a warrior for the Necasian Military, before rising to become its leader.

History[]

Early life[]

Askar! Flee! Take your mother with you!
—Askar's fathers last words, amidst his incomprehensible screams

Askar Invado was born to Taung slaves on the terraformed planet of Coruscant, in the Galactic Core, to a pair of Taung slaves, enslaved by the Infinite Empire of the Rakatans. Born into a Rakatan slave camp, they labored upon creating statues and temples for the Rakatans on the newly terraformed planet, the surface of which had been all but destroyed during the terraforming process. From the very early age of two Askar was forced to work, starting with small labor but, as he grew older, working on more hard tasks. The Rakatans were demanding slave drivers, and there was no room for recreation and love, and Askar saw very little of his parents, as they worked on the opposite side of the compound. Despite this, Askar harbored the dream of fleeing the compound and taking his parents with him, and starting a new life in a different part of the galaxy. Askar however wasn't naive enough to put much hope in this dream and, although optimistic, he always believed that he would die where he was born; in the compound.

Throughout his childhood, he experienced Rakatan cruelty at first hand. Despite his tender age, the Rakatans made little special treatment for him, punishing in the equivalent amount to his parents whenever anything went wrong. At the age of eight, Askar experienced something that would both scar him for life and cause great mental and psychological damage to him. In an effort to gain more food for his ailing wife, and young child, Askar's father had stolen food from the Rakatans. The Rakatans systematically lined up all of the men in the camp and systematically tortured them to discover who did it. It turned out that one of the men had seen Askar's father stealing, and sold him to the Rakatans. The Rakatans chained Askar and his mother to a wall, and made them watch as they tortured his father in the slowest and most painful ways they knew. It scarred Askar mentally for the rest of his life, and his father eventually died, in front of Askar's eyes. Askar, from that day on, worked harder than he had before, determined to escape the cruel Rakatans forever.

After this, Askar knew he had to escape. He realized that there was no life for him or his mother inside the Rakatan compound, and he had to free her. He knew that a slave revolt would trouble the Rakatans; if they captured the slaves, they would be forced to kill them, and lose many of their slaves, but if they attacked, then the Rakatans would be forced to waste valuable resources fighting them and, if they, by some miracle, escape, then they would launch guerrilla attacks on the Rakatans from elsewhere.

The mantle of a leader[]

Askar, your father is dead! The slaves want you! You must lead them!"
"Me, mama? But I can't do it! Why me?

—Askar's mother to him

His fathers death left a big impact upon him. He retreated into himself and his amount of sociability plummeted. He would never quite emerge from the shell he compressed himself into after his fathers death, and his mental state deteriorated, despite the expectations placed upon him in his fathers absence. The mantle of a leader was heavy on his shoulders, and Askar had no wish to take it, whilst the Rakatans continued their acts of cruelty, oppressing the slaves inside.
