Antipon was the fifth planet in the Zarban system and the neighbor of Zarban itself. It was the first colony world of the Simyastos; a minority of Simyasto historians dated the birth of the Zarban Hegemony from the colonization of Antipon in 203 BBY rather than from the later acquisition of alien-inhabited Fornassan in 14 ABY. While most historians rejected this position, Antipon was under the control of the government on Zarban from its founding.
Being as it was settled by the Simyastos, Antipon had a culture very similar to Zarban itself. In 95 ABY, the planet was the site of one of the worst battles of the Shield War, though the Hegemony successfully defended the world at great cost. When the Hegemony dissolved nine years later, Antipon joined the Golden Empire along with the other Hegemony worlds. Over some objection from Zarban's ruling elites, Antipon was given its own Consul, though the two planets often collaborated on trade policy.
