Alexai Malex was a Human male who grew up among the Kilmaulsi of Kilmaulsias and the Wylixians of Whoxx. He was the grandson of Petr Malex and the patriarch of the Malex family crime syndicate and a successful poet.
Biography[]
His parents, Nikolai and Alja Malex, moved to Kilmaulsias in 596 BBY to manage Black Sun operations in the Vorzyd Cluster from their castle that was carved out of the side of a canyon. Alexei was born there in 593 BBY. While he was at school in 585 BBY the castle was bombed and both of his parents were killed. A few days later, his grandfather, Petr Malex, came and took him to Whoxx. His grandfather was also murdered in 580 BBY, leaving him to be raised by his Wylixian neighbors. They tried to temper feelings of vengeance in the young teenager but as he grew up he could only feel hatred towards the people who killed his family. Exposed to much art and classical music on Whoxx, he developed an appreciation for them but his real love was poetry. Even before his grandfather's death, he had already been writing childish poems but as he grew into adulthood he found himself devoted to poetry to such a degree that his adoptive family believed he had forgotten his desire to avenge his biological family.
But in 569 BBY an Ongree named Bnoocin-Bric came after him, the last Malex, to kill him. Alexei outsmarted and killed the assassin, killing him with his own blaster. Feelings of anger and bitterness resurfacing, he decided to travel to Nar Shaddaa where he could find his father's old friend, an Ithorian informant named Harswee Dobdo. Dobdo said Bnoocin-Bric was working for a Rodian Black Sun Vigo named Boorko Kemu who sought to wipe the memory of Petr Malex from the galaxy. After telling him this, he advised Alexei to hide, offering to arrange for him to be taken to Nal Hutta where he could work for one of the many Hutt clans that were not in the employ of the Black Sun. Alexei had a different idea and asked the Ithorian to help him bring down Kemu. For the sake of Nikolai, he agreed.
Their strategy would be to create for Alexei a following of individuals who despised the Black Sun. Many such beings existed on the Smuggler's Moon, particularly those who lived in the ancient refugee districts where Black Sun extortion and sentient trafficking was rampant. Alexei infiltrated the hideout of a Black Sun slaver named Thaynt Kodepaikay and, freeing the slaves, overwhelmed the slavers and slaughtered all of them. Then they retreated to the Undercity, where they set up a base in an ancient building that was formerly the Lavish Hutt Hotel. From there they created their own syndicate that would become known as the Malex family and waged war on the Black Sun until they had greatly reduced its influence on the moon. He helped Vana Rogaret rescue her father from the mines of Ssloess in 564 BBY.
In 558 BBY they had influence throughout the Y'Toub system and Malex felt it was time to attack Kemu. The Rodian Vigo was aging and living on Lijuter where he was safely protected by an army of Houk mercenaries. Wishing to have the Rodian brought to him alive, he hired the renowned bounty hunter Doan Xerisces to the job. After Kemu was brought to him, he executed the Vigo. In 553 BBY a Zutreybn Black Sun leader named X'Bivezo Enfelgob approached him and offered to make him Underlord because none of the current leadership of the organization had the kind of ambition Petr Malex had. Alexei responded to the offer by murdering the Zutreybn. With the power of his organization growing while the Black Sun waned, he decided to marry a woman named Vana Rogaret in 550 BBY. They had several children and the Malex crime family was begun in earnest. Alexei retired to Whoxx, where he died in 501 BBY.
