Time? Time? we have all the time in the world. I'll live for another thousand years at least, and you're half Celestial, so you will too. I'd say patience is a virtue we'll develop after awhile.
—A'ra Kyy, to Fi'nor D'aghar

A'ra Kyy was a Neti, daughter of T'ra Saa. Born on Taivas after Saa's death, she was discovered as a sapling by slave traders. Sold to a nobleman, she and a half-Arideth child of Jur'ak D'aghar were his guinea pigs with Force powers. After the nobleman discovered Dreypa's Oubliette, he duplicated the Oubliette after decades of work. In 1,156 ABY, he locked A'ra and Fi'nor D'aghar (the Arideth) inside a super-sized version of the Oubliette, and himself inside the real thing. His plan was to remain in stasis to prolong his lifespan, but his lack of Force talent and scientific ability caused a loop in the Oubliettes, which killed him and preserved A'ra and Fi'nor for much longer than the millennium he'd planned on. A'ra and Fi'nor awoke when archaeologists discovered the now-ancient cavern, and escaped, beginning a trade business. Unfortunately, after a millennium, Fi'nor was killed in the third and final Nerok uprising, and she went into near-eternal hibernation.

Biography[]

Early life[]

I was a slave for my entire time as a sapling. I was dirt. Fi'nor was the only thing that saved me from killing myself....
—A'ra Kyy, at Fi'nor's funeral

A'ra sprouted after the death of T'ra Saa, and was barely more than a sapling when discovered by slaver Captain Rok. Rok took young A'ra into captivity, and she spent a year being forced to work for him. One night, he had sold a large amount of his 'livestock'; the entire crew was celebrating by getting drunk. In a rage, Rok physically abused A'ra. He was found dead the next morning from a heart attack, which was blamed on the alcohol. The first mate wished to be a legitimate merchant, so he decided to sell all the slaves and start over. A'ra was a special case and he thought she would do good at auction, so he took her to Zygerria. From the moment she was announced as a Neti, the bidding skyrocketed. After several people gave up, A'ra was sold to a Zelosian nobleman, who said he appreciated that she, too, was a plant-based species. Working at his estate was exhausting, but when he discovered she was Force-sensitive it was even worse, as he subjected her to numerous Force-based experiments. However, there was a spot of light to all this, as she met his other lab rat, a gray-haired boy who claimed to be nearly a thousand years old. He introduced himself as Fi'nor D'aghar, and they became friends mostly out of necessity. A'ra developed a fondness for this being that seemed split between being a teenager and being an old man. Discovering he had Force 'seizures' on a regular basis, a side effect of his mixed heritage, she assisted him in these moments. Unfortunately, the nobleman declared his 'ultimate experiment' was about to take place. He'd discovered Dreypa's Oubliette, and this project took many years. Eventually, they were locked inside the Oubliette.

Later life[]

The nobleman, unfortunately, died due to his experiments, the Oubliette doing nothing more than keeping his dead body, laden with Sith artifacts, preserved for nearly half a million years. Unlike him, Fi'nor and A'ra were preserved perfectly. By sheer chance, a group of archaeologists broke their slumber when they unearthed the nobleman's castle. The archaeologists were unable to break open the original Oubliette, but they were able to open the Nobleman's Oubliette (the copy) containing Fi'nor and A'ra. Fi'nor immediately went into a Force seizure, and the shock of this stunned the archaeologists enough A'ra was able to escape with Fi'nor. The pair roamed the galaxy for a millennia, doing everything from helping people in need to starting their own trade business, which they operated themselves with just one small freighter. They survived the first two Nerok uprisings, but the third was the strongest. Robotic warriors were all over the trade moon they were on. There was no chance of escape with the moon and spaceports overrun, and Fi'nor turned back, holding off thousands of the Nerok. Unfortunately, he suffered a Force seizure, and was injured when he was off-guard. A'ra saw him fully give into the Force, and his body burned away as he became a true Celestial. White blasts of Force energy decimated the Nerok forces, and forced a retreat. He barely had strength to say good-bye to A'ra, then he was gone. A memorial was set up at the site by the trader who owned the moon. A'ra became tree form directly behind the memorial, hibernating forever.

Personality and traits[]

A'ra Kyy was a scarred individual for a large part of her life. She rarely tolerated other beings when she was younger, and even when she was older after exiting the Oubliette she allowed Fi'nor to do all the talking. She was totally in love with Fi'nor, giving her all to him. His death scarred her to the point that she went into eternal hibernation, only speaking on rare occasions to give advice to those asked it. She was wise, but brusque. Her Force-sensitivity was not great, and she only used it to heal and protect when it was absolutely needed.

Behind the scenes[]

Although she is a Neti, and thus a plant, A'ra used her shapeshifting to make herself very physically attractive to most humanoids, for the sake of Fi'nor only. Her giving advice from tree form is partially based on Grandmother Willow from Pocahontas.
