The 88 ABY Galactic Cup was a major interplanetary jetball tournament, which was organized by the Galactic Jetball Federation and held on Dac. It was the 31st Galactic Cup to be held and the third one to be hosted by Dac. The competition, as the most popular jetball event, was highly anticipated and would set records for attendance and Holonet ratings.
Preparations[]
Prior to the start of the tournament, Dac began to prepare for the event in an unprecedented manner. All stadiums which were scheduled to hold matches underwent rennovations, new hotels, shops and bars sprung up in all major cities and the planetary economy in general experienced expansion it had not seen in centuries.
Qualification[]
The 64 tournament seeds were filled through qualification events in each of the six GJF confederations. Two teams qualified automatically: the host team and the defending champions.
