Alek Matayo, a clone of Yamato Kamiya—although he believed himself to be his brother—became deranged, driven by pure hatred and insanity. How he was cloned and who created him is currently unknown. He saw the attempt to transform the dark past of the Kamiya legacy into a good one as an insult; a form of treachery. When Yamato was a Jedi Knight, he was enraged at the path he had taken, so in response, he created an army of clones of Yamato, and used them to hunt down and kill as many Kamiya relatives as they could find. Eventually, Yamato himself, with the help of a few other Jedi including Mira and a diminutive Jedi named Yoshi, destroyed and shut down the cloning process for good. When Yamato died, and word of a son that was destined to finally break the curse on the legacy reached Alek, he went on a rampage to locate him, eliminating the remaining relatives and Kale Kamiya's mother Amanda Terran, but was unsuccessful in tracking down Kale. Alek later encountered Kamiya on the world of New Bornalex where Alek was presumably defeated, but returned, with a vengeance greater than before. He became a Sith Acolyte in the Praetorian Order and possessed Kale's padawan Yuna Lee for some time. He continued to attempt to make Kale's life miserable as well towards any loved ones he may have had.
Death and rebirth[]
Alek was later killed in a chaotic duel between Kale and seemed to be dead for good this time, but approximately two centuries later, a figure resembling Alek appeared at least three times to Yamato Kamiya, Christie Homewood, and Holly "Shadow" Raesha.
Behind the scenes[]
Alek Matayo was created as a character in RPG World, a roleplaying community for the game Jedi Outcast and later Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. The community now exists as RP Evolved, which has moved onto text roleplaying, on their forums
The character was influenced by characters such as Sylar from the NBC TV show Heroes
The character has been mentioned over time by one or more characters within the Star Wars Roleplaying Community in the virtual online game Second Life, and has also been rumored to appear more than once within it
The name "Alek Matayo" are the names "Kale" and "Yamato" scrambled. Both these names belong to members of the Kamiya family
